Dual Task Brain Training in a Group Setting

We all know that physical activity is vital to brain health; this session will demonstrate how to implement specific, cognitive-boosting exercises into a group fitness format. This brain health class merges motor and cognitive demands into dual task training. These drills will incorporate both seated and standing movement, with the addition of simultaneous thinking tasks. Come away with a host of new programming ideas for dual tasking as well as a means for developing your own.

Practical, Replicable, and Immediately Useful

Instructors want practical, replicable ideas they can use right away—this session delivers exactly that. Join Maria Teresa Stone to explore her proven Express Strength approach: 30-minute workouts that deliver maximum impact in minimum time. You’ll learn to design time-based formats, layer progressions, and coach effectively without overhauling your class each week. You’ll experience the workout yourself and see what makes the format work. You’ll leave with a ready-to-use toolkit of workouts, progression strategies, and coaching techniques to refresh your classes and expand your format ideas immediately.

Our Only Defence Against Alzheimers and Parkinsons Disease

An ageing population means we are seeing more clients present to us with a range of different neurological conditions. Rates of various types of Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease and Parkinson's Disease are increasing all around the world and fitness professionals can play a large role in assisting these clients to have a greater quality of life. Instructors also play a crucial role in educating and empowering clients to change the behaviours that increase the risk of developing these diseases. This session will look at the common neurological conditions that are most likely to be encountered, how to recognise some of the symptoms for referral, what sort of exercise will be most beneficial and what are the factors that influence how likely this group of clients are to make changes to their lifestyle and engage in physical activity.

Check It Before You Wreck It

This session is all about tuning in to how you move, before tightness, stiffness, or compensation patterns sneak up on your teaching. You’ll explore what mobility really means (and how it’s different from flexibility), then learn how to run a series of simple, repeatable self-checks to gauge your own movement capacity. This session focuses on self-awareness, and you’ll gain practical insight into how your joints are moving right now, how that might affect your ability to demonstrate movements and move with ease, and why certain limitations might be showing up in your body. It’s designed to help you recognise early signs of restriction and better understand how to prevent potential future injuries.
