Understand Cognitive Motor Training for Real Group Fitness Classes
Cognitive motor training is more than adding a memory game or number cue into a workout. It combines cognitive challenge with physical movement in a way that is planned, purposeful and suitable for group fitness.
In this workshop, Cammy Dennis will explore how the brain processes movement, attention, reaction time, decision making and dual tasking, and how these elements connect with balance, coordination, functional performance and fall risk reduction.
After exploring the science, you’ll move into practical application. You’ll learn a simple framework for designing safe, progressive cognitive motor drills that can be adapted for different abilities and class formats.
You’ll also practise creating drills that challenge executive function, processing speed, working memory, attention and coordination, so you can build classes that support brain health, movement confidence and independence.
