Sometimes changing one part of how you teach can change the whole class experience

This year’s MGM Group Fitness Virtual Conference invites you to look at your teaching from a different angle. Across the day, we’ll explore cueing, choreography, breathing, stability and the return of old school aerobics, with practical ideas you can take straight into your own classes.

You’ll discover ways to make choreography easier to teach, rethink the cues you rely on, understand how breathing can affect movement, explore stability in a more useful way, and revisit aerobic training with a new perspective.

The goal is not to change everything you do. It is to give you ideas that make you stop, think and ask,

“Could I teach this differently?”

YES, I WANT TO JOIN

You do not need another conference that leaves you with pages of notes and no idea what to do with them.

Every session at the MGM Group Fitness Virtual Conference focuses on something you actually do when you teach.

Across the five sessions, our presenters will take familiar parts of group fitness and look at them from different perspectives.

You might discover a cue you have used for years could be clearer. You might find a simpler way to introduce choreography. You might start paying more attention to breathing, rethink how you coach stability, or rediscover why old school aerobics still has plenty to offer.

The point is not to walk away teaching like someone else.

It is to walk away with more options, more understanding and more ideas for the way you teach.

The Big Do's & Don'ts of Cueing

Ever given a cue and watched half your class go the wrong way? We’ve all been there! Join renowned presenter Steve Boedt for a fun, practical and interactive session packed with real-world experience and plenty of “OMG, I do that too!” moments.

Discover how small changes in your timing, body language, preparation and communication can transform your cueing. Learn when to cue, what to cue, and—just as importantly—when to STOP cueing!

With Steve’s wealth of group fitness experience and engaging teaching style, you’ll leave with simple, practical tools you can use in your very next class.

Old School Aerobics, Turned Up

Brain training is everywhere right now, and it has been in your aerobics class the whole time. In this session Maria Teresa teaches a short, classic routine and then rewinds through it to show you the 5 moments where your participants were working their brains as hard as their legs.

You will learn 5 plain words that name what is happening, and for each one, how to turn it down for a newer class and up for a confident one. No new equipment, no new format and no theory to memorise. Just the choreography you already teach, chosen on purpose.

Stable, Able, Unshakeable

Balance isn't a single skill. It's a set of skills, and most instructors only teach one of them in their classes.

This session takes you through balance in three stages. Stable covers static balance and the three systems that control it. Able looks at dynamic and anticipatory balance, where the body stays in control while it moves. Unshakeable explores reactive, sensory and dual-task balance, where the body recovers from the unexpected and stays steady while the brain is busy.

You'll leave understanding how balance works, why each type matters, and which types your classes may be missing.

Let the Inner Dancer Out: a beginner's way into choreography

You’ve been teaching for years. You know how to coach a great class, connect with your participants and make movement feel good. But there’s a little part of you that would love to add a routine… and you have no idea where to start.

No dance background? No problem!

This practical session gives you a simple, repeatable method for turning movements you already teach into a short, easy-to-follow routine your participants can pick up the first time.

This isn’t a dance class, a Zumba-style session or a lesson in complicated choreography. It’s about understanding the building blocks of choreography and gaining the confidence to create your own.

Are You Breathing Right?

Breathing is natural, right? Yes... and no. We breathe thousands of times every day without thinking about it. Yet the way we breathe can have a powerful influence on our physiology, psychology, energy and emotional state.

In this practical and experiential session, Wendy will unpack the science behind the breath and explore how different breathing techniques can influence the nervous system, mental state, energy, recovery and performance.

More importantly, you'll experience it for yourself. You'll leave with practical breath techniques and insights you can use to: Regulate your own nervous system before, during and after teaching, support vocal projection, energy and presence, shift your mental and emotional state, help participants regulate, or recover, create a deeper mind-body experience within your classes, and give participants simple tools they can take beyond the studio.

This session invites us to explore something fundamental: how we breathe.
