What is MOVE TO THE BEAT?
 
This course aims to focus on understanding the structure of music using basic low impact movements.
 
What do you expect to learn from MOVE TO THE BEAT online course?
 
This course will help you understand music in group fitness formats and will empower you to use it effectively. You will learn how to listen for blocks and phrases so that moving forward, you can develop choreography and structure a workout to music. This is an important foundation for any successful group exercise to music workout. 
   
How long do I have access to the course materials?
 
You have lifetime access to any of the online courses. So you can go back and review the whole course anytime you want.
 
How long will it take me to complete MOVE TO THE BEAT online course?
 
Everyone learns differently and it depends on how much time you have available to study and practice on a daily basis. It also depends if you have had previous music experience that would assist you with understanding music structure. Taking all of this into account, this course can be completed (if you include your own hours of practice) in a couple of weeks. Experienced instructors may be able to complete it in a couple of days. 
  
What can I teach after completing this online course?
 
MOVE TO THE BEAT on its own, won’t give you the skills to teach an specific class format, but it will help you understand music better which is the foundation of teaching a class. If you currently teach pre-choreography, pre-style and/or freestyle classes, MOVE TO THE BEAT online course will take your classes to the next level because you will be using music more effectively. MOVE TO THE BEAT online course, is a module of a larger course that will incorporate a number of more modules that teach different aspects of class design. 
 
What do I need to do after completing MOVE TO THE BEAT?
 
Make sure you practice the music skills on your own and with other people. Watching the videos will not teach you the skills until you physically practice listening and moving to the beat. If teaching a group fitness class is a goal, then being able to do this in front of others is essential to be able to concentrate on several skills at the same time without being distracted.
  
Is there an assessment as part of MOVE TO THE BEAT online course?
 
There is an assessment at the end of the course compromising of 18 multiple choice and true/false questions. You will need to achieve 80% to pass the assessment in order to attain your certificate of completion. You can take the test as often as you need to be able to complete the course. 
 
Will I receive a certificate of completion at the end?
 
Yes, after completing the assessment at the end of the course, you will receive an automatic email from us with your digital certificate of completion via email. Make sure you type your name as you would like it in your certificate of completion.
 
Are there continuing education credits
Yes - at the completion of this online course, you will receive the following credits:
Fitness Australia - 3 CEC's
REPS New Zealand - 2 CPD's
Fitrec Points - 30
 
Are there other courses I can do with My Group Move?
 
Our recommendation is to continue on and complete the Communication and Connection online course. This course will teach you how to engage with your participants and expertly communicate your choreography, moves and routines during the workout. The Choreography and Flow online course will teach you how to put together a class and teach it like a pro. The Art of the Start and The Final Piece - Stretch and Release are also great courses to do so that you know how to start your class with connection and enthusiasm and finish the workout with a grand finale.
